ESCAPERS Local Lab: An Intergenerational Game Day

About the Event

As part of the ESCAPERS LABS, this public workshop was one of the first opportunities for our primary target groups to experience the project's results firsthand. Hosted in the premises of Kifi Volou and facilitated by Odd Statue Social, we brought together seniors (over 65) and young adults from the local community to play an escape game in a fun, intergenerational setting. The main goal of the event was to test the game's dynamics while promoting social inclusion and creating a playful bridge between generations.

Event Activities

• Seniors and young adults were grouped into mixed teams to solve puzzles and unravel the story of a new escape game.
• The event fostered interaction and teamwork, helping to break down age-related stereotypes in a supportive environment.
• After playing, participants joined a facilitated feedback session to share their thoughts on the game and the overall experience.
• The workshop provided a safe and creative space for all participants, encouraging active participation and dialogue.

The Impact

This workshop was a wonderful success, providing our design team with invaluable feedback for the final game adjustments. More importantly, it created a vibrant atmosphere of connection and mutual respect between the participants, demonstrating the power of game-based learning to promote social inclusion and active ageing.
